Paramount Pictures has appointed Shaun Barber, the former co-president of worldwide theatrical distribution at Lionsgate, as its new head of domestic theatrical distribution. This strategic move follows the recent appointment of Josh Goldstine as President of Global Marketing and Distribution and the departure of Chris Aronson, the previous head of domestic theatrical distribution, last month.

Barber, who brings nearly three decades of industry experience, will be responsible for directing Paramount’s North American distribution efforts for all theatrical releases. He is set to begin on December 1 and will work in tandem with Mark Viane, who will continue to manage international theatrical distribution. Both executives will report directly to Goldstine.

Throughout his impressive 18-year career with Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment, Barber played a key role in the success of major franchise blockbusters such as John Wick, The Hunger Games, and Twilight. He also contributed to critically acclaimed films including Knives Out, La La Land, and The Hurt Locker. Under his leadership, movies released through Lionsgate and Summit accumulated over $9.3 billion worldwide at the box office. Additionally, Barber’s releases have grossed over $20 billion domestically.

His career began at 20th Century Fox in New York City, followed by a move to Los Angeles in 1998 to join Warner Bros.
